New Election Process for Homeowner Associations

On July 1st SB 1196, became law. For homeowners associations, one of the most notable changes will be the election process. Associations whose bylaws permit secret elections would be required to use the same election process as condominiums. Condo associations use a two-envelope method similar to an absentee ballot. So collecting proxies has much less value for the election because only votes cast by sealed ballots count.
