Gustav should pass, but Eight is coming!
Tropical Storm Gustav, having acheived Hurricane category 1 strength as he passed over Hiati has now changed course and strength slightly and the 120 hour forecast has Gustav pointing at the Central Gulf area. Meanwhile the eighth depression of the season has already formed and the long forecast shows Florida could be in its sights. Fay Fades and Gustav Gears Up
As tropical storm Fay fizzles out after landing in Florida a record four times, bringing floods and 11 deaths, Gustav has roared into life in the Atlantic. Predicted to become a Hurricane later today, the 120 hour forecast shows Gustav could be headed for Florida.Posted on 26 August 2008
Fay to hit Florida
Tropical Storm Fay is due to strike South Florida later today, possibly as a Hurricane of category 1 or 2 strength. Governor Crist has issued a State of Emergency over the weekend and the Florida National Guard are at the ready.
A tropical storm warning is in effect along the Florida east coast from Uupiter inlet southward, and along the Florida west coast from Bonita Beach southward, including Lake Okeechobee. A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected within the warning area within the next 24 hours.
