Insurance Up as Season Continues
On the same day that the 6th named storm of the current hurricane season forms - Tropical Storm Felix - it is revealed that contrary to expected insurance premium reductions, 32 companies have actually filed for increases in their rates. Of 42 final rate filings already submitted to the Office of Insurance Regulation, only 3 companies have filed for reductions in their rates. Reducing insurance premiums was a cornerstone of Governor Crist's campaign for office last year, and the focus of a Special Session of the Legislature in January.
