Charlie Crist Wins Governorship
Despite a rising wave of optimisim in the Democratic camp in recent weeks, Republican Charlie Crist has beaten Jim Davis to become the next Governor of Florida. Following the most expensive campaign in state history, Crist led by 52% with 96% of precincts counted.
In other results, Democrat Alex Sink beat Republican Senate President Tom Lee for the Cabinet post of Chief Financial Officer - the first Democrat in the Cabinet since 1998.
Republican Bill McCollum beat Democrat Skip Campbell for the post of Attorney General, and Republican Charles Bronson remained as Agriculture Commissioner.
