Wild Fire in 4 Corners area

On Friday June 9th a fire in scrub land between Funie Steed Road and the US192 caused some concern for owners of Emerald Island resort, Sunset Lakes, Lindfields and Encantada.

The fire started about 3.30pm and was raging when winds fuelled the fire at dusk. By Saturday morning the threat seems to be over.

The police department closed the 192 from Lindfields to the 429, guests and owners on Lindfields and Sunset lakes were disrupted for a short time only. Funie Steed road was also closed from Emerald Island.

Tropical Depression one

The first tropical depression of the season is forecast to hit Florida On Sunday 11th / Monday 12th June as a tropical storm.

Tropical depression one was formed on Saturday June 9th, it is forecast at present to hit around the south Gulf coast as a tropical storm and track up through Central Florida. It is not expected at this time to reach Hurricane status put will produce large accumualations of rain.

Stomach Flu Hits Central Florida

For the third time in a month, cases of stomach flu (main symptom - diarrhea) have spiked by as much as 400% in the Formosa, Longwood and Kissimmee Centra Care surgeries.  Cases at the Colonial Drive surgery have leapt by 700%.
