Importing Goods from the U.S.

How many times when shopping for your vacation home in Florida have you seen the perfect thing for your own home? Do you then instantly dismiss the idea of purchasing it because you wouldnâ??t know how to get it home? Or may be you have filled your allowance of suitcases (empty for that purpose!) â?? have your own golf clubs and suddenly spot a bargain set. What do you do then? May be you are not going over for a while and just canâ??t wait to take advantage of a good price. Perhaps you are an expat and would like to send things to family back home but are put off by the shipping costs.

PakYA UK may have the answer. Originally founded to enable residents of Latin America and the Caribbean to benefit from the cheap goods prices of the U.S. the idea has now been brought to the UK by the British founder of PakYA UK Dave Plumb. Simply put, you join PakYA UK, which then provides you with a U.S. shipping address at their base in Miami. This is often the key to buying in the States. Many stores will not ship outside the U.S, or if they do they quote silly prices. You purchase your goods either in person, or from the comfort of your own home - over the Internet, by phone or fax, and have the goods delivered to that Miami address. The wharehouse receive the goods, check them over for breakages etc, and then ship them to the UK where they are delivered using reputable couriers such as Parcel Force. All customs duties are handled for you together with VAT, and the delivery comes direct to your home.

For the sake of example we have chosen golf clubs. First choose your state of the art golf equipment such as a Taylor Made R7 quad graphite driver. Check the best price in the UK: 118golf.co.uk were offering this driver for £249.95 including delivery. Then check the price in the U.S: Amazon.com had this driver on special offer at $199 (down from $400) including delivery to Miami. Then using the handy calculator on the PakYA UK website, we entered in the details such as the type of goods, value, size and weight. The calculator will tell you how much shipping and customs duties will cost, and then how much VAT is payable. In this example to ship to the UK including purchase price, delivery, duties and taxes would be approximately £150.

You then make your payment to PakYA UK, upon receipt of the funds the goods are dispatched to the UK and delivered direct to your door. From the time they reach Miami they can be tracked using the easy online shipment tracking facility.
You make payment to the shop in the normal fashion and then payment is made by credit card to PakYA UK to cover their costs.
